Solved Drivers after fresh OS install

Hi all.

Have owned PCs for a long time but never really learned a lot of the stuff that is necessary if you're a PC owner. I'm now in the process of doing a fresh install of Windows 7 but not sure what to do to get all the drivers up and running after the install. My main concern is not having internet connection. So, what do I need to do to get the net going? My Motherboard is Asus and it's a custom PC. Will the CD that came with it have the driver? Or do I get it from Asus site? Is it the one listed under (LAN)?

Also, should I bother with the chipset and BIOS downloads ?

Thanks.

The driver CD should have all the ones you need, you can check the ASUS site for newer ones if you want, good thinking ahead though on the internet connection.

LAN would be Ethernet drivers, and that would be the best to have connected during installation, if for some reason the native one in the installer doesn't get you online the one you have on the CD or download will.

Chipset are the next most important drivers to install, BIOS you shouldn't need to worry about at all.

Thanks for the reply, derekimo. I appreciate it.

Yeah I was aware of the internet connection problem and I have another HDD with everything on it just in case. So then the installation CD that came with the motherboard should be ok. I'm assuming I can just insert the Asus CD after Windows OS is installed.

Didn't know I needed the chipset downloaded. Is this necessary only after a fresh OS install?

You're welcome, actually I've never used the CD but it should have most of them if not all of them.

I just downloaded mine from Asrock. Yeah, inserting the CD after the OS is installed will work.

Chipset is vital but is only needed after a clean install. I would think it would be on the CD as well but I'm not sure.

Yeah everything worked fine. No problems after the OS installation. Just used the motherboard CD and found everything I needed on it including the chipsets.
