Solved Drivers fail to install everytime

For some reason, most likely a virus, all of my network adapter drivers and usb controller drivers were uninstalled. I tried manually downloading the drivers from Intel and HP for the wireless since that is all I have right now. I can only burn discs on another computer and pop it into the computer having issues.

I went to install the drivers and it continually fails. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling through device manager as well. I should mention I tried installing the Windows 7 drivers when I did an upgrade from Vista.

I have tried running Microsoft Fix It and it was unable to fix the drivers.

I have tried running chkdsk /r on the drive. I am currently performing chkdsk /f on it. I have scanned my computer for viruses, Malwarebytes was the only thing that managed to find something.

Specs about the computer:
Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. (Custom upgrade from Vista Home Premium x86)
HP Pavilion dv7-2185dx series computer.

I am looking for assistance in trying to install these drivers back onto my computer, rather than blowing away the OS and reinstalling it. (Will blow it away as last resort).

Does the problem occur if you start http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html with networking?

If you can get that far with typical behavior then you could download install and update. the malwarebyte's tool.
Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

It may not hurt to reset your bios either... if you know how.

I have tried booting into Safe Mode with Networking and yes the problem does indeed persist. Could it be that I just need to install the drivers from Vista? Considering I performed a direct upgrade rather than a fresh install of Windows 7

If that were the case I would honestly take this as the time to do a clean install.
You can do so even if all you have is a upgrade version.

I'll be perfectly honest with you I have never seen 7 run properly when someone only used the update feature. It always seems slow and problematic.

Anyhow that being said it's not what you seem to want right now.

My other thought is have you tried uninstalling the devices from the device manager?
It's possible that if you remove them and reboot the automatic driver detection will kick back in.

I did not seem to have any issues performing the upgrade. Anyway back to the point, I have tried uninstalling the drives in device manager in safe mode. I proceeded to boot into Normal mode. The drivers failed to install and continued to be considered missing.

I figured maybe if I tried the Vista drivers it could work? (Going to try soon).

If not I guess any other tips will be appreciated and as a last result, reinstall Windows 7 using my upgrade disc.

Yes, I was trying to use the Windows 7 drivers from there. My computer came with Windows Vista Home Premium and upgraded. Still waiting for the chkdsk to finish, then will give the Vista drivers a shot. Just looking for a few more possible tips before it comes to the inevitable fresh install.

I managed to fix the issue, was a registry key stopping me from properly reinstalling the drivers.
