Drivers for Huawei E220 + windows 7

Hello,
I know there are other threads on the same subject, but with the given links I always arrive on pages that do not exist anymore.
I would be glad if anyone could help find me a page where to find drivers to make the huawei E220 device work on my windows 7.

yes give it a go and see if it works i know the phone networks that sell the dongles have there own software what network is yours? where in the world?

Well these are the instructions I received on paper with the device years ago.
It has indeed its own driver, which works perfectly... for windows XP... windows 7 is just a bit too much modern for him I guess

right have you tried to run the device in troubleshoot compatibility ? does windows acknowledge it when you connect it ?

Software compatibility

Microsoft is aware that users of Windows want to run older programs, though, so if you have a favourite program or game from yesteryear that won’t launch in Windows 7, there are a few tools that can help get it working.

Click Start, then All Programs and find the program’s shortcut in the list. Right-click on the shortcut, select properties then the Shortcut tab and click on the Open File Location button. The highlighted file in the window that opens will be the program’s executable file.

Next, right-click on it and select ‘Troubleshoot compatibility’. This will launch Windows 7’s compatibility wizard – follow the steps to see if Windows can automatically detect and fix any problems.

If that doesn’t work, try right-clicking on the file again. This time select Properties, followed by the Compatibility tab. Here you will find a number of manual compatibility options. The trick is to experiment with these settings until you get a satisfactory result. Under where it says ‘Compatibility mode’, put a tick in the box and then choose an appropriate version of Windows from the dropdown menu.

It recognizes it. It installs the programm (Mobile connect), but then, it cannot connect (says the device is unavailable). The next time I plug-in, it installs the programm again, as if it had done nothing before.

I suppose I will try this troubleshoot compatibility thing...

yes try it i run a linksys phone for skype a wireless one in compatibility mode it works great its 4 years old!!

find the program right click on it and in the context menu click troubleshoot compatibility

Well troubleshoot compatibility did not work.
I choose to run it in XP compatibility mode and it always says the same "device does not exist or is unavailable"

And why do I have everytime a warning message on my computer, that it will change things on my harddisk ?!? The Mobile connect programm was already installed it should not change anything... I am confused about this...

i have the same dongle and i have used it on my pc ok on the 3mobile network in England, maybe its just not compatible because the software is different email/ring the mobile operator to ask if there software is designed to work with 7

change what? a disc clean up? if the volume is dirty it will need a clean

Perform a SFC Scan

1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow

2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

sfc /scannow

A message will appear stating that 'The system scan will begin'. Be patient because the scan may take some time

3. If any files require a replace SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Windows 7 DVD for this process to continue

4. If everything is okay you should, after the scan, see the following message "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations"

5. After the scan has completed, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

I talked to my brother (who had huawei E220 too) and although sunrise operator doesn't officially support with win 7 there is a programm you can install to use it with win 7. I still have problems as I have two programms that want to function at the same time (the old one keep opening because it is inside the device and keeps opening when I plug it), but at least I have internet
