A day or two ago, I noticed that the drop down menus (like for any program, File, Edit, whatever) are suddenly all shoved to the far left side of my screen, unless they're about 3 - 4 inches in on my screen. Instead of starting on the left edge of the menu you click on, such as favorites, and having a slight gap between the edge of the menu and the edge of the screen, it shoves it flush to the edge of the screen.

See? I dont know what caused this, and its driving me nuts. It wasnt like this a few days ago and I dont know how to move it back. Can any one help?

That may have to do with the size of some of your entries for which the drop down needs space. As a test shorten the long entries and see what happens.

No, it doesnt. It does this with EVERY program and I know that it wasnt like this before. I was just using Photoshop last night and it wasnt like this, but now its doing it.

Instead of aligning the left side of the menu to the first letter of the word, its aligning the right side of the menu to the last letter of the word.

I know this is marked solved and I said the restore fixed it, but I want to follow up incase any one else has this problem do the same things it did to me.

The system restore did work, but it also messed up my set up - made my wacom tablet stop working no matter how many times I plugged it in and unplugged it. AND the problem came back a few hours later. So, I went and did another system restore, going even further back.

It fixed all the problems, but as of 8:50 pm last night (mountain time) the menu alignment went weird again. So, I did what was suggested and went to alter it in the regedit.

However, there was already a MenuDropAlignment with a value of 1 in the location.

I went in and totally deleted it, logged off, logged back on and the issue is gone. Lets hope it STAYS gone now.

same problem here! Started today. Will try the regedit solution.

edit to add solved issue by following this tutorial as suggested by Brink:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/786-menus-open-left-right-side.html

like ACWN, there was a MenuDropAlignment value of 1 in regedit. By setting the value to 0, logging off and back on, the menus went back to normal position!

I too have had this issue, but found a fix not long ago:

The issue is that the 'Handedness' setting has become corrupted or changed. To change this, follow these steps.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/67799-tablet-pc-settings-shortcut-create.html

Press the Windows logo key + R to bring up the Run dialog box. In the Open line, copy/paste the following text.

shell:::{80F3F1D5-FECA-45F3-BC32-752C152E456E}

Press OK.

This will start the Tablet PC Settings configuration dialog (Even if you do not have a Tablet PC).

WACOM Tablet Issue

For me, I've had the drop down menu orientation change after a few Windows updates.
I noticed that a few posts (in other forums too) mentioned they had a Wacom Tablet. I have one too.

If you go to PC Tablet Properties in Control Panel, and click on the Other tab, there is a setting to change menu orientation (left handed vs. right handed). This is the only place I've found it in any settings on my computer.

That's exactly why I started searching again a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember where I found the fix the last time it happened so I figured if I typed it somewhere I might remember it the next time!

Designermom - exactly; I think the link I orginally posted (in reply #11) was for another site, but it now points to a sevenforums.com page. Either way, as long as the info is out there - its a damn annoying problem and has a surprising effect on Workflow, when you're used to it the 'normal' way...

Ash is quite correct - this weeks' Windows Update (Professional 64-bit anyway) broke it again for me too (and other Wacom users I know, using Bamboo's...
