Hi there.

I have a plan to buy Windows 7 Pro OEM for my netbook.
And i want to make it dual boot on that netbook.
So, my Win 7 Pro will be installed on drive C:\ and drive E:\

I'm sure that the first activation for drive C:\ will absolutely done well and legit.
But how about the second activation on drive E:\ ?

Is it legal and allowed to activate the second one on other drive for dual boot option?
Its still on the same machine (same netbook) and the same hardware.
Its just different drive partition.

Just wondering that.
I'm waiting for your answer.

Thank you.

Regards.
Raditz.

Hello Raditz,

Sorry, but no. An OEM product key number on the COA sticker can only be used to activate one current installation only, and only on the exact same computer it was first activated on. You can activate a clean reinstall on that computer all you like so long as no other previous activated installation exists. Otherwise it would violate the EULA and be illegal.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Every installation of Windows requires its OWN License.
If you want two installations on the same machine then you require two licenses (i.e.two Keys).
You will need to purchase a FULL Retail license for the second installation.
