You can install either one first, and then the other. It doesn't matter.
However, if you want to use the new Windows 8 boot GUI, Windows 8 will need to be set as the default OS to run as startup

Windows 8 has a different recovery system. Windows 8 is the newer boot system. I would have to say, what order you install them in
is important.
Please understand, I am not saying Win 8 is better, just newer.
