Dual Boot mouse not working

I built a new comp. Sys whith HD,Sound Card, Video card Ect. I put Win 7. Installed Win 7 on the new HD got it all set up, put the old HD with XP on it and got it to dual boot. The problem is when I boot into XP users screen the mouse or key board doesn't respond.

Can that be fixed?
Or can I get the XP disk to do a fix and repair?
Or get to a fix in Win 7?

IF I understand what you did -- you connected an old drive, containing XP installed on ANOTHER computer, to this new PC -- and you're confused as to why it won't work properly??

That's because it was installed using drivers for the hardware present on the old PC, not the new one.

I've read that, if you put the drive back in the old PC, and you remove ALL the drivers, including any special video drivers, that when you then hook it up to your new PC, it might work well enough to allow you to go out to Windows Update and grab all the drivers you need -- but that presumes that either, you leave the ethernet drive intact and it works on the new board, or you have an XP-compatible ethernet driver you can install from external media -- in order to get to Windows Update.

Not tried this myself ... can't guarantee it will work. Maybe you'll be lucky and it will.

Re-install XP onto the new machine (on the same drive it was of course) I think will take less time and effort. Then XP will detect most of your hardware, and you will just have to install the drivers for special hardware, as you did for Windows 7.

I tried to put the XP disk in and shut down and reboot the computer it just booted to the dual boot screen asked WIN7 OR XP.
What am I doing wrong to get XP to reload or fix?

Your BIOS is set to boot from the disks, then. Go into your setup (usually delete key or an F key on POST screen) and select a CD or DVD drive as your primary boot device.
