I seem to always one into this problem every couple of months it seems.

I have a dual boot pc. One Partition has Windows 7 the Other XP. The XP boot looks like it got corrupted because when it boots it asks for I have to select "Last known good configuration".

I hit that it the xp boot screen comes up but it never gets past it. It looks like it searching for something that is missing.

I have EASYbcd but there help notes are not great.

Is there a simple way of fixing this with EASYbcd ? Or do I have to put off the Windows 7 DVD and fix it that way.

Thanks

Shawn

It is likely that the latest version EasyBCD 2.0 can correct your problems if you install it to Win7, then on Edit Boot Menu highlight the XP entry and Delete. Now click on the Add Boot Entry tab and add XP by Type, accept offered boot files and let autocomplete, Save, Restart.

If this fails, on BCD Backup/Repair tab, try to Recreate/Repair boot files.

If XP appears on Dual Boot menu but continues to not start, then I would run the XP Repair Install. Afterwards, you will need to install EasyBCD to XP (requiring Net Framework 2.0) to Add Win7 back to the Boot menu.

If there are any further problems, please post back a screenshot of your full Disk Mgmt drive map and listings using Snipping Tool in Start Menu.

Turned out to be pretty easy.

I was able to get into safe mode and restore it back a week. Usually doing that doesn't work but this time it did.

Thanks for the replies.
