hi,
Perhaps i can get some right direction here. I got 2hd : win7 32 hd1, win 7 64bit. hd1 was my first hd so I am assuming dualboot information in hd1. and one gt440 nvidea card

there were few updates that came but i left the restart pending for later.

I saw after bios, my dualboot table no longer comes on screen, cursor reminds for few seconds and i get the black screen of death. no safe mode , win7 cd is also getting stuck after loading the windows files. so will try another cd tomorow. did some readings, issues would be 32,64bit dlls to nvidea drivers.

Is there any way i can start off with one of the OS and start a repair operation on the OS or boot information?????

Mitumix Welcome to Sevenforums.

When all is said and done, I'm going to guess that you only want a working x64 Windows 7. Am I correct?

hi,
Well i needed the 32bit for a short term in case some software doesnt work. e.g. DevC++ 4. installer doesnt work on 64bit but if you copy and paste the installed folder from 32bit it works!!!

Ok the problem got solved, the hd1 was damaged and thus i had to delete the 32bit version and recover all data overnight. after format and all, harddisk got slow performance thus end of the story. the only sad part was i discovered the problem after formatting my 64bit or hd2.

any pointers how to load the boot info to a hd1 with a working OS. windows setup needed some sort of driver :(

To recover the System boot files to a HD which is NOT marked System Active, mark the target HD Active in Disk Mgmt, using Diskpart, or free Partition Wizard bootable CD, power down to unplug any other HD´s, boot the Win7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots until Win7 starts on its own.

In the future the best way to dual boot with separate HD´s is via the BIOS Boot Order or on-time BIOS Boot Menu key.
