Solved Dual boot?

Hi,

I have W7 32bit installed on my Dell laptop, want to dual boot with licenced W7 64bit.
Is it possible, if yes how should I proceed step wise?
Have 68 GB of available space on the single SSD.

Hoping to hear your expert recommendations.

What is the 7-character "service tag" number on that laptop?

I really don't recall the exact read/write speeds. But its a Kingston SSD,probably 50 Mbps write, 35 read could be more?
Just checked for your views.

The service tag for the laptop is not much use without the model of the laptop.

It is possible to create a second small partition and install win7 x64, if you just want to experiment. Bit tight for space for running two separate os .

e.g. if you create a separate 25gb partition you could install win7x64 onto that, but not a great deal of room then for either os.

You should get a bigger ssd.

Previously have installed W7 64 bit on it, uninstalled since could find a driver for Nvidia video card, and 64bit fan by Christian Diefer.
It gave an error that is unsigned.....

yes of course. Just apply the win7x64 image to a separate partition then add a boot menu entry.

You can use a gui such as gimagex or dism++ to apply the image . Then from an admin command type:
bcdboot d:\windows to create the necessary boot files.

replace d with the letter of the partition you applied the 7x64 image to.

How is that relevant? I dont think your laptop can support nvme disks.

Are you planning on installing win7x64 on your laptop, or your desktop?

The only reason for installing W7 64bit is to flash my Android device, testing different ROMs.

The adb drivers etc are compatible only with 64bit.

According to the service tag number (2KZMQC1) that you provided me with, you have THIS Dell XPS M1710 laptop which was originally purchased in March 2007 and came with Windows XP or Vista 32-bit.

Because of its old age, its support site no longer provides what hardware it came with.

Thanks for letting me know. I knew that, it's old but still younger than me.
@Brink care to post the link of your tutorial regarding installing W7 64 bit on an already installed 32bit on a single drive. Saw on the forums but cannot locate now.....hope its rock solid and error free..

I need approx 40 GB and have extra 60 GB on this.

Once am done with my android shall restore 32bit backed image, deleting 64bit.
