DUAL MONITOR PROBLEM- second monitor not working!

Hello, I'm new to the forum! Thanks for building this forum!

Here is my problem:

I have a "regular" Intel Graphics card on my HP desktop. It has a VGA port and a DVI port.

When I connect one monitor (a VIZIO 26" LED/LCD TV) to the VGA port, everthing is good...
I tried to connect a second monitor (the same TV model) but it didn't work, here's what happened:

I connected a DVI to VGA adapter into the DVI slot on the PC, then a VGA cable to the VGA port on the TV and it wouldn't even detect it!

The next thing I tried is I connected a DVI cable to the DVI port on the PC and on the other end I used a DVI to HDMI adapter and connected it to the HDMI port on the TV...well NOW the second monitor is detected in the "change display" options where you "extend" the view, BUT, my second monitor keeps shutting off (it's on PC input) automatically because it doesn't get a "signal" from the PC?

I tried to "extend" the monitor, but nothing happens! I only have a blue screen that says "no siganl" on the second monitor!

Does anyone have any idea what I can do!? Will I need another graphics card!?

Any insight is truly appreciated as I am not very versed in technology!

I'm not sure about this, since this is an LCD/TV, connecting to a pc, I belive they must use HDMI to HDMI. Using an adapter for a VGA connection wont work do to the limitations of the VGA connection (has to do with resolution).

When you refer to a regular GPU on your desktop, are you referring to the onboard graphics of the mobo? If so I would get a decent GPU with at least dual DVI and one HDMI.

Hey Bass! Thanks for the input! Yes, I mean the "normal" card that came with the PC from the factory. I did notice when using the DVI to VGA adapter it wouldn't even detect the second monitor. I then used a DVI to HDMI adapter and now Windows detects the second monitor and gives me the option to expand the monitors, but nothing happens, like the second monitor doesn't have a signal!

Any ideas!?

The current card is integrated on the motherboard, since it is on the top block with the other connections....

Issue resolved with a Star Tech USB VGA External Monitor Video adapter!
I followed the instructions that came with the adapter and it worked flawlessly! It only cost 60 bucks, too!
The added realestate is GREAT!!!

I fully reccomend the adapter! You can add as many as your card will support and if you have enough USB ports! Might go for athird one myself! Hahaha!!
