Dual Monitor Problem

I'm running windows 7 and have my 22" monitor coming out of the VGA port (working fine), and a little 15" coming out of the S-Video port on the same vid card,(was working fine) . I had it extended to the 15" when I first hooked it up and everything went well, then I selected "duplicate these displays" and didn't like the appearance so I tried to revert back, but to no avail. Now I have my 22" working and looking like it originally did, but the options in the display menu won't allow me to extend back onto the 15" it says it's unable to apply these changes, and the resolution and orientation fields are grayed out. How can I get it to go back to it was and allow it to display onto the 15" again??

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

I think the first thing I'd try is uninstalling the 15" in device manager and reboot. The 15" should be detected at startup. You may need to reinstall the driver.

no drivers

I never had any drivers installed and it doesn't show up as a listed monitor. I don't know if it did at first or not. i'll try finding drivers for it.

If you don't have it listed as a device, then more than likely that *graphics card* driver has disabled the S-Video output b/c of the changes. I'd try going that route to see if you an get it enabled again.

It shows up in device manager as "generic non-PnP monitor" and in the display options it shows up as other until it installs and then it's listed as "display device on: S-Video". I'm not sure exactly what you're wanting me to do. Do I need to find drivers for it on the web even though it has successfully installed previously? I've tried unhooking it and removing the device completely from my computer and then reattaching it and it will install, but still the same problem, so far I can't find any actual drivers for it.

No, what I am saying is that your Drivers' control panel / control center may have disabled the S-Video jack for you trying to be helpful....

IOW, for nVidia the nVidia control Panel and for ATI the CCC....

I am actually sort of experiencing the same issue. I have two monitors, and they show up fine, but when I connect my tv to the svideo, and I try to save the settings, I get the "cannot save or apply settings" error. In vista, I used to be able to extend my desktop to my tv thru the svideo port of my video card. I used the latest driver from Nvidia website, still no luck. Hopefully 7068 fixes that issue.

i have a tv and 19ch flat panel - the tv is set up as a clone of the lcd.
my pc has both Vista 63 and W7 64 installed on seperate partitians.
under Vista works fine
undet W7 only the lcd montor works
i use CCC (catalyst software) to set up an it is set the same for both ops ???

We share a common issue Jamesr; my tv does not show on w7. It showed when I had vista installed. I am trying to connect to my tv via svideo. How are you trying to connect to your tv? My video card is a Nvidia Geforce FX5200. I think the issue may be a compatibility issue with the card and w7. I say so because I went to Nvidia's website, and under w7 my card is not listed. Even though my card works, I think it is just meeting the minimum requirements. I can connect another monitor to the other vga slot on the card, and all is well. So it would seem the issue is with the svideo slot. The odd thing is that it seems to recognize the tv, but I am unable to apply my settings.

Under device manager I see a pnp monitor, and non pnp monitor. I assume the non pnp monitor is the tv, but I uninstalled both of them anyway. I then rebooted hoping it would help......no joy.

yep - mine recognizes my tv too!
the computer is DVI out for both LCD and TV
on the TV i have a DVI to HDMI lead so HDMI in on the TV.

it works in Vista not in 7 >????????????

I have the a problem I have my Tv connected through s-video and I only get a blurry image. In XP there is an option where I can pick to use the S-video connection on the "Change the signal or HD format" in control center but in 7 I don't get that option... Any clues??

I have a problem to with both a monitor and my LCD TV. It wil not work on both, only one at a time. I don't have problems with my WinXP install, only Win7. I have ATI Catalyst 9.5.
