i know this is a 2 year old thread but someone might stumble upon this ( like me ), would like to show you how i did this w/o having to download any software related to dual monitors.
I have a 1366x768 main display and 1920x1080 extended monitor. They're set up in a way that both displays are aligned on the top, the smaller monitor is on the left and the bigger one on the right.( go to Control Panel ->Appearance and Personalization -> Dislplay -> Screen resolution )
1. I created this image ( http://i.imgur.com/UGIMwXP.jpg ). Obviously didn't make the actual image, i just merged them. The one on the left is the smaller image for my laptop display and the other one is for the extended display.
2. Set as desktop background ( tiled ).
3. Magic!
