I have my monitor (vga) and my tv (hdmi) hooked up to my desktop computer. When I listen to music I have it open on my monitor and the sound comes through the bookshelf speakers I have connected via the audio jack. However when I want to watch a video, I watch on the TV and I want the sound to be coming from the tv. Currently I go into the volume settings and change the default playback device. Is there anyway to do this automatically?

Short answer, NO. Windows will only allow one default audio playback device, such as "Speakers" or "HDMI", but not both.

that's too bad. there's not even a 3rd party program with this functionality?
