Dual PCIE 16x question

I have a Foxconn A7DA-S motherboard that has 2 PCIE x16 slots. They each run at x8 if I use Crossfire.

My question is, does it matter which slot I put my single radeon 5770 card in? If I install the card in 2nd slot instead of the 1st slot, will it still run at x16 as long as I don't use crossfire?

I ask this because I am trying to make room for a PCIE x1 tv tuner card.

I don't know your motherboard, but mine has a BIOS setting that permits one to designate which slot to use.

It doesn't matter with single cards. If both slots are x16 slots, then feel free to put it in either of them.

This is correct as long as they are both rated at 16x with one card. And only revert to 8x when both cards are used. You can always verify this by going through your manual as it varies by motherboards. Your MB may suggest which slot to use with a single card. Just to make sure and give you some piece of mind. Fabe-
