Will I be able to duel boot win7 with vista when opting for a win7 upgrade option of my vista upgrade install which is not duel booted a the moment?

You should be able to, but you will have to install Windows 7 like Vista in this tutorial for a clean install to dual boot with.

Thanks for the reply my concern is an upgrade needs to see the existing instal of vista and then go on to duel boot ?

The article is wrong the quote "Retail Vista can be installed on any one computer at a time for as many times as you like" is wrong you cannot install it as many times as you like there is a limit which i come across all the time - many an argument with MS, LOL.

I know you have to have a new product key number per installation, but I have not run across any limits on how often you can install from the DVD.

If you do a clean install with your upgrade Windows 7 like the method in this tutorial, then you can use it to dual boot with Vista. It will work the same way.

I have has a few issues with too many instals on the same PC in too short a time telling me to call MS XP and Vista (but never with a OEM disk).

Just to confirm here, you can install as many times as you wish from the same ISO and serial key. Although your problem will arise when you activate the software multiple times on the same machine (before the 30-45 day expiration kicks in). I think yur limit is 5 activations, and as long as they arent on simotaniously you shouldn't have an issue with getting the 800# guys to activate it for you.

Ive been down this road many a time, let us know if you have issues.

But as Brink said, you can Upgrade your current Vista install, but then have to fresh install your other partitions to setup dual boot.

I believe if it is the first operating system installed on the machine - you can reactivate an infinite number of times with no issues.

If it is not the first o/s to be installed , then you get the 5 activations lead to phone call scenario.

Pretty sure I read that somewhere on the MS site.

Makes sense as I have reactivated a lot more than 5 times on this machine without problem.
