Hi,
Iv'e got all of my music in my music folder. In this folder is another folder named 'iTunes'. When I placed my music into the actual iTunes program it had to convert some of the albums to another format and then save the new files in this iTunes folder. Then when WMP read what music is in the my music folder, it duplicates any songs that had to be converted.

Is there any way for me to exclude the iTunes folder been read when WMP searches for music.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks

There should be an exclude option for it.

I know your pain. I have a server that reads this folder on my pc and duplicates everything. Same thing, Itunes music, in my music folder. Double songs.
In my case, I have to go in to my server and exclude either the Music folder, or the Itunes folder. I have the HP Mediasmart server.

The thing you can try is to change the default location of the Itunes folder to something other than your My Music folder. However, be aware that then you will cause Itunes to not be able to find your music since you changed it's location. It's something best set up right off the get go with a new pc, or first installing Itunes.
It's a little tedious to fix.

Looking in Windows Media Player I see no where to exclude a folder within a folder. So I'm thinking the above is the only way?

Hopefully, someone else here will come up with a less painful alternative, but the above will work.

Thanks for the replies.
Luckily it is a new PC so their isn't that much music on it and it wont take too long to find it all again in iTunes. So I think the best bet will be as you say, move the iTunes folder into my documents.

you would think there would be a way of stopping WMP collecting music from a certain folder.

Thanks again.
