The BBC are trialling HDTV in my area (north west England). Recently we had a big fuss retuning our set top freeview boxes.
This happened twice and caused much confusion, there was even a helpline for the confused.
I watch tv via a Hauppaugge Nova-T stick. I retuned it. It's fine.
It looks great on my Dell monitor but no different.

So I look around and there's a guy from Hauppaugge saying:

"It is our intention to have a single tuner USB DVB-T2 product available prior to the World Cup.", a "Single USB Stick tuner."
USB HD DVB-T2 Dongle or card - when - Hauppauge UK Forum (User -> User Support)

So have I got this right? Just seems a bit crap.

There trialling HD TV in my area but I can't get it unless I find a Humax box (not cheap) or wait until whenever the world cup is to get a DVB-T2 dongle (bet they won't be cheap either)
I'd be less than happy if I'd splashed out on a huge HD ready TV.

Also they're trialling this service in the Granada Region of the UK but who to?

I hope somebody 's gonna tell me I've got this totally wrong and it isn't a complete bollix.:)

Got a swift reply to my enquiry on the Hauppauge Forum. A stick device will be their first product to recieve DVB-T2:
"Blame Ofcom choosing to go with this new DVB-T2 standard. Hauppauge isnt at fault here.

Hauppauge will have DVB-T2 devices available when the components we need a readily available. Information from our suppliers indicate that'll be late summer (northern hemisphere)."

so, yeah, it's a complete bollix for Granadaland:sarc:

I in the same position, I got my Hauppaugge Nova DVB-T stick because it was advertised as HD (when availible) and now we need DVB-T2

As far as the boxes go it's an absolute rip off that they are selling the only boxes with only a single tuner and no recording for £180, although this one is worth watching and hopefully will be out within weeks - 3view - HD and internet ready DTT set top box

That looks very interesting and I've asked to be kept up to date.
It looks like an expensive product though.
.
Hauppaugge's dongle will likely be cheaper when it arrives.
From what I gather they are "waiting for the silicon" as DVB-T2 requires a totally different chip.
There seems to be the implication that it's a Government committee level mistake as they've changed their mind at the last minute:huh:

I watch my tv through my pc monitor so a dongle or a card would suit me.

If you want to sit back and watch tv and do pc stuff I'm finding this very useful-Keysonic KSK-3200 RF Wireless Keyboard - it's a small keyboard about 10" across with a ball mouse top right and the two clickers top left.
Great thing, a bit plasticky but otherwise very well done. I can click on 300% on the magnifier, pause my tv or movie and answer an email typing either with my thumbs or with one hand whilst stretched out on the sofa.
That's not ideal for typing but this is basically a slightly larger and more complex than usual remote control. I think it's great:)

ps. a review of the above if you're interested:http://labs.v3.co.uk/2010/02/hands-on-keyson.html

Just checked. Still nothing from Hauppaugge except to say "late summer" for a DVB-T2 dongle or card.
Could have done with some joined up thinking here. They are trialling HD TV in my area but none can receive it:huh:

Excellent news. £99 at the moment. I'll wait six months and see if they come down a bit. Thanks for posting John:D
