OK, so I burned a DVD data disk in Vista before I upgraded my laptop.

Dropped said disk into the drive to restore files, and huh? Shows as empty! I drop said DVD into an XP machine, all is there. OK, I am confused.

The media is TDK DVD-R. I have never had trouble with this media on any of my machines.

Ideas??

Thanks in advance for your help.

Probably should have mentioned: The DVD RW Drive: Matshita DVD RAM UJ-850S ATA Device

And last comment (I hope), this is the same drive in the same system that burned the DVD-R data under Vista.

Did you use the UDF filesystem on the DVD? If so, you may need a drive or an app to read it in Windows 7, that you probably had installed under Vista.

Looks like I did use UDF files system (not intentionally). I had no idea I had anything installed under Vista...must have come installed on the laptop (I had to do a full recovery re-install back in October and had not installed much at all knowing I was probably going to do a Win7 install). Sigh. OK, so I will look for something to read the UDF filesystem on Win7.

Thank you for your help Deaconfrost!
