DVD RW Cannot complete the burn process

My DVD RW won't complete the burn process to a blank dvd. it freezes when it reaches to 30 secs left.. and the drive won't open using the eject button.. Help!!!

To me it sound like your dvd is scratched, or the software you are using is corupted. If you are on a desktop you can eject the drive using a paperclip and poking it through a pinhole in the front of the drive.

Hi! jayrod, welcome to W7F

Do you see a small hole below the door to your DVD player?
Straighten out a paper clip, and insert it into the hole, about an inch in you feel some resistance.

While pushing on this resistance push the eject button. It may take a few tries.

Dont wory, you decribed more in detail, i was multi-tasking so didn't get to go as in depth as you did with the "paperclip" method.

It would be helpful if you could tell us the make/model of your DVD burner/player.

Have you been able to burn other DVD-RWs?

Is this the first time this has happened?

Have you changed brands of disk medium?

Have you recently installed any new programs?

I was looking at my player/burner, and noticed that I don't have the hole.
I'm going to have to look up a way to open it if/when I get into a jam.

just thought to let you know Iv seen some models where the front plate snaps off, and the you pull the entire tray out. kinda weird way.

I have a Gateway DX4831e with a HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH41N [CD-ROM dr].

Its one of those where the button is on the side, the tray pushes the door open. I can pull the door open by hand, and it exposes the front of the player/burner.

I'll have to investigate your tip further.

Now i only hav 1 concern left, if i will burn a cd it will not complete the burn process. it stuck when it says 30 secs left to complete the disc.

well, first i wound check the software you are usin, and posibly try re-installing it, unless it was a bad disk which sometimes happens.

i use windows dvd maker, i tried burning dvd rws' the same issue. it worked fine before without any issues, and i did not install any software prior to this problem.

Check it to see if you may be doing anything wrong.

What To Do In Case Of Issues

If you notice any of the following issues, chances are this is caused by an incompatible filter:

• You cannot put a menu background or foreground video in the custom section of DVD Maker
• Video appears upside down or distorted when you preview it in Windows DVD Maker.
• Video is black and no audio plays.
• Windows DVD Maker stops responding.
• Audio plays too quickly and is distorted.
• Audio plays, but video is black.

In this case, go to the DVD Options menu as described in the first chapter. Next to the DVD-Video tab there is the Compatibility tab.

If nothing there jogged your memory, and it worked fine before, try to remember how far back, and then do a system restore. It could of been a recent MS update.
