My Toshiba Laptop has an Matshita DVD-RAM UJ890AS.
I try to write a DVD disc, but it does nothing.
In Win7 Explorer after selecting some files, the "write" button does nothing.
I try to setup the Ashampoo Burning Studio, but it does not start - after the welcome screen happens nothing.
I try to remove upper and lower filter - as microsoft says.
In group policy the cd burner is enabled.

For some months ago it has worked, i don't know what happens since.
(I write DVDs rarely)

Thanks:
Baumi

Try the free Imgburn CD/DVD burning program. The Official ImgBurn Website

What is the status of the drive in the Device Manager? Does it show an error code or working OK? If it shows working OK, RIGHT click on the entry for the drive to highlight it and then LEFT click "Uninstall". Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall. If there was a corruption in Windows for the drive this will fix it.

The driver in device manager is good, working (it is a hungarian Win7).
I have uninstalled the driver, rebooted the PC, it recognized the new harder, installed it - the problem remains.
The driver works fine as DVD reader, so reads the DVD-s. But it does not write them.

Thank You:
Baumi

I can't find any reliable information on this drive. Have you tried both DVD+R and DVD-R discs? Some drives will only accept one or the other.

Please try another virgin media and check whether your drive can recognise and burn to it. ( Try a brand new DVD-RW.Use a reputed brand.)

A bad/corrupt media in the drive can create all sorts of problems.
