DVD+RW Problems

I bought a stack of DVD+RW disks and I can't get them to initialize on any of my Windows 7 systems. DVD R's work fine.

When I put the DVD in, I get a dialog choice for data disk or "USB' type disk. Doesn't matter which I choose, it fails during the surface prep.

Even though they are a "Staples" house brand, I can't believe they are all bad.

What else could be wrong?

The device is:
Dell Inspiron E1505
TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632D ATA Device
running whatever the Windows7 install gave me

Regards,
Hank

Sorry but this is the best I could do.
I used the tutorial for finding the missing info but still could not find it. Special Thanks to PooMan UK and DocBrown for their help in filling out these specs.
Hi Hank. I would suggest you check or update your drivers here.

I tried the Dell site and there was not a specific driver for my DVD hardware, so I tried one that "looked close." Well, as one should know about computing...close is most likely not good enough...and it wasn't. As soon as I started the installation, I was told, unceremoniously, it didn't match the equipment detected.

The system shipped originally with Vista and I upgraded to Windows 7.

Strange issue...i got lately the same with DVD+R on Vista x32 bits and my Windows 7 x64...the all set of five Dvds went to the rubbish can!!:(

It burnt well a DVD-R on the windows 7 x64....

Don't remember having an issue with DVD+RW...

When I put the DVD in, I get a dialog choice for data disk or "USB' type disk. Doesn't matter which I choose, it fails during the surface prep.

This pop up windows looks normal to me...after, the fail might come from a dirt on the laser optical.
I burnt well a dvd-r after a litlle cleaning. I have unmounted the dvd reader Sata bay from my laptop, to clean with a soft acrylic brush.
