My DVD writer doesn't write to DVD's any more just to CD's
This all began about a year and a half ago and looking back it seems to me that it began after I burned and used that light scribe crap with a DVD supplied by the manufacturer
Has any one heard of a similar complaint

It's a 2006 HP DualCore Intel Pentium D 930, 3000 MHz (15 x 200)
With a Asus P5LP-LE (Emery) (3 PCI, 1 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, LAN, IEEE-1394) Mother Board
The Specs for the DVD are
Manufacturer Hitachi-LG
Device Type DVD+RW/DVD-RW/DVD-RAM
Device Description HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GSA-H20L ATA Device
Interface ATAPI
Extra Features LightScribe

So, the DVD Writer ceased functioning as a DVD Writer a year and a half ago?

It could be a bad DVD Writer, but it could also be something else - such as filters in the registry.

Have you been upgrading every time a new build comes out or are you doing clean installs every time? If the latter, then I'd definitely look at the DVD Writer...if the former, I'd look at your OS as possibly being the culprit....

1st u try by using different software for making DVD. if its does not work then talk with the shop from where u have taken
, & then with the company. & if they make it ok then it and buy a new one. ASUS DVD is one of the best.

Well about 5 different programs for DVD's
Also about 11 versions of windows 7 originally it was windows XP with all the different upgrades it's the DVD writer thats for sure when it happened it was beyond any warranties I have another computer for the family that works just fine This is the one
is for my experiments in cad/cam and new OS's I network any DVD's writing to the other computer for the moment .
I was just curios if this was a common problem

Every piece of hardware in your computer is a component in and of itself - and like all mechanical and electrical devices, none work perfectly 100% of the time. There are always devices that fail earlier than expected, and devices that fail later than expected.

I cannot say this is a common occurrence - however, drives do go bad. If you have the cash, replace it if not, well, at least you currently have a working solution....
