Hey guys :D

I have a question. Currently i have a tv setup like this.

I have my video card witch is an geforce 8800 gts. It has two dvi connectors.

Anyway my tv had a vga input not a dvi so i got a converter that went dvi to vga.

The picture looks good enough but i want to upgrade to blue ray

So i was thinking what if i went from dvi to hdmi.

It is uncompressed so the picture will look nicer but this my question

By going from dvi to hdmi will i still be able to keep my 1980 X 1800 res?

will it put any black bars in my screen cause i currently don't have any lol

will it change the way my screen looks other than better quality?

Any replies will be appreciated :)

Yes you should so long as the TV is reconized in device manager the only differences are DVI to VGA is taking a digitial out out and analog in. DVi out to HDMI allows for sound to be transmitted over a digital output.
(if I'm mistaken please feel free to correct me)

Thanks for your reply Thefabe :)

I do agree with whith you that i probly should got to hdmi but i was wondering about a few things first. for example

1:Is the quality of the screen noticably higher when u change from vga to hdmi

2: will it tax my system for more recorces to do hdmi? and how much if so. I dont so much worry about this one as i have a faily powerfull computer.

3: Will going to hdmi require me to change any settings on my computer such as screen resolution or anything like that

4: will it make my video games / dvd's look any better?

Bassicly i would like to know all the pros and cons of the hdmi system.

Any replies will be apriciated Thanks :)

P.S. I have learned that hdmi has adio capabilities but i already have a high teck adio system set up via s/pdif so i am not so much worried about sound qualitty just video quality thanks :)
