Hi, when I open IE i get an IE Security tab open up stating " a website wants open web content using this program on your computer" , the program name is dw20.exe. regardless of whether i allow or dont allow it to run i get an error message stating "application has generated an exception that could not be handled
process ID=0x9f0(2544), Thread id=0x1318(4888)
click ok to terminate the application
click cancel to Debug the application"
On pressing either ok or cancel interner explorer closes after unsuccessfully trying to find a solution to the problem.

Ive started my computer up in Safe mode and have no issues opening IE when doing so, also I can open Google Chrome with no issues.
Other than reading that dw20.exe is for error reporting to MS ive been unable to find a solution to the issue. Ive scanned my computer on all has come back clean.
can anyone advise me of what the fault is and how to rectify

many thanks

This comes up in a search,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841477/en-us
What have you scanned with ?
Review Jacee’s instructions to run Adwcleaner here,
Ignore the title of the thread,

You can use these free tools to see if they find anything,
Manually Update them before running full scans,
Try not to use your computer while the scans are running, (one at a time of course).
Uncheck the box to Activate the Free trial from the final install options,

This one is the longest up to 4 hours, the others are only about 45 minutes,

Which version of IE are you using? I think this is a Protected Mode issue. See if you see this at the bottom of the page (status bar) when you get this error:

24qscgm.jpg

As mentioned, dw20.exe is the error reporting tool (Dr. Watson :))

Usually selecting the Do not show me the warning for this program again will elevate the program to run in a Low Rights Policy.

First I would try disabling IE add-ons. If using IE10 or lower

Start> In search box type Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)> Enter

If IE11

Start> In search box type run> Enter> In run box type iexplore.exe -extoff> OK

See if this error occurs with add-ons disabled

If that isn't the culprit, try performing a Clean Start to see if you have a conflict. If it works, track down the conflicting program per the tutorial.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...ation-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html

If no help, this should at least get IE working until a fix is found:

Download Autoruns it requires no installation. Run Autoruns and select the Everything Tab. See if you find dw20.exe. If so uncheck it to remove it from startup.
