My sister's laptop, which was working quite fine earlier in the day, decided to 'die' on us and gives us the following messages:

1st error message:

dwm.exe - Bad Image

C:\\Windows\system32\d3d10_1.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

2nd error message:

explorer.exe - Application error

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000006). Click OK to close the application.

We tried to do a System Restore but it said that there was no restore point, which is weird since she ran Windows Update earlier in the day. Safe Mode worked and we did a sfc /scannow on Command Prompt in Admin mode, but the computer got further whacked after our second scan. Even Safe Mode doesn't work anymore. EDIT: Safe Mode still works but we have to do several reboots before it properly opens into Safe Mode again.

What should we do next? Should we run to a computer repair shop now? Btw, we're not computer experts, we just looked up some solutions online.

Thanks ahead~

Welcome to Seven Forums Mad Hatter. Generally an experienced user may attempt to correct these errors one by one. But the easiest thing for you may be a repair install

If this seems beyond your comfort level, and you have no geek friends :geek: You might be better served at a repair shop. Just be aware many shops want to just wipe the drive and do a clean install. Also effective, but you will lose all your data and installed programs. A repair install will preserve your data. However there is still the possibility your problems are the result of an infection.
