Dynamic disk question...

I was resizing/extending some partitions in Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc).

I shrunk a partition, and was about to extend another one using the now available unallocated space. I was doing some things in Word, and a box came up and I accidentally pressed enter on my keyboard.

I then noticed that my then basic disk was converted to a dynamic one.

My question is... Is it anything to be worried about? Just feels weird that there's no way to go back without completely erasing the drive first.

Install Partition Wizard version 4.2 which still has non-destructive conversion from Dynamic to Basic as a free option: partition wizard 4.2 free.zip - Windows Live#

In the future, partitioning is not something you do while multi-tasking. It can easily go fatal.

Back up your files first.

I know .

Also, it's not letting me convert it:

Looks like your OS isn't involved, at least.

Can you convert it from Logical to Primary first?

Nope, nothing's letting me do that (options are greyed out).

Off-topic: What's in the surf board in your sig? At first glance, I thought it was an iPad or something.

Today, I was looking for a new backup solution. Windows Backup supposedly does incremental backups, but it doesn't remove previous files, so I quickly ran out of disk space.

I was going to try EASEUS Todo Backup Home, but it isn't able to backup from dynamic disks.

Looks like I'll be manually copying files to my external hard drive so I can format and convert the disk back to a basic one, and then I'll be back on track.
