Dynamic IP's

Alright, I'm about to end up tearing my hair out over this. I'm trying to get my IP to refresh, so I can get a new one. Doing it on Windows XP was easy enough. But for the life of me, I cannot get this dang thing to work. Each time I try

Code:
ipconfig /release

OR

ipconfig /renew
It gives me a stupid error. I've been to every corner of the internet trying to figure out what in the world I'm supposed to do. Now I'm not exactly super-savvy with this stuff, but I do know that everything I've tried so far should work. I know I have a dynamic IP address, checked that myself and called to find out. But even so, I always have the same one.

So. Does anyone, at all, know how to get a dynamic IP address to change, or to use the above codes to change it? Or something else? Tearing out my hair here...

EDIT: The errors I get:

Code:
C:\>ipconfig /release

Windows IP Configuration

An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The sy
stem cannot find the file specified.

C:\>ipconfig /renew

Windows IP Configuration

An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The sy
stem cannot find the file specified.

Used most of these, none seem to work: How to change (Dynamic) IP address in Windows 7 or Vista?

According to the error you are receiving, you either do not have a NIC (network interface card) or you dont have the drivers installed. NOTE the "Loopback Pseudo-Interface" part of the error...

What does Device Manager show for Network devices???

maybe you do this step. check your connected cable UTP if you use PC and connect by UTP cable.
then see the status is connected or not.

if still can't so i guest the LAN card is broken, try the other card..

ryo... from his error message the PC isnt seeing the NIC. Either a bad NIC or bad/incorrect/nonexistant driver.

yah i know that,,but at top he already say the driver, so it's mean NIC card already installed into system, just for make sure, sometimes it's can be happen when the NIC already broken.

Your "Pseudo-Interface 1" adapter is not the card (adapter) in which you would be releasing or renewing.

Your "ipconfig /all" should show "nVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet" as the top adapter with a DNS suffix, ip address... etc.

From Start Orb:
click control panel / Network and Sharing Center : click "Change Adapter Settings.

In this new window you should have at least one adapter in there. please screen shot that window and post it here, please.

Your adapter seems to think you are on a static ip address for whatever reason. Do you have static addresses placed anywhere in your adapter properties?

Not that I would know of. How would I check that?

My router/modem(it's actually both at once, as it has built-on wireless, and multiple ethernet ports) is an AT&T U-Verse 3800HGV-B.
