Ease of Access & High Contrast Themes Problems

I give up! I am trying to assist a family friend who has macular degeneration & VERY poor eyesight. He uses his new PC with Win7 (x64) primarily for creating documents in whatever the latest version of Corel's WordPerfect suite is out now (6?). On his VISTA machine, he uses the Alt+Shift+PrintScr combo to turn on the high contrast theme before starting WP. It turns the background black, the text to bright white, and hyperlinks are in bright yellow. I spent hours today trying to get the same results under Win7, but WP insists on showing hypertext links in dark blue, which is invisible to him. I'm not familiar with WP (haven't used it since DOS 6.22!), but I followed its less-than-direct :sarc: instructions for modifying this... but it just doesn't stick. I can't tell if the issue is with WP, Win7 or what. Can a WP/Win7 guru help me with this? The poor man's machine is nearly useless to him without light, bright text on a dark (preferably black) background.

Any suggestions or work-arounds would be greatly appreciated!:)

TIP #16 - CHANGING THE BACKGROUND COLOR (All Versions)

You can have WordPerfect use the background and text colors you've set up in Windows instead of the default white background and black text. First, you need to tell WordPerfect to use the Windows colors.

To do this in WordPerfect 8 & 9:
From the menu, select TOOLS/Settings
Double-click Display
Click on Document Tab
Select Windows System Colors
Click OK
Click CLOSE

To do this in WordPerfect 6.1 & 7.0:
From the menu, select EDIT/Preferences
Double-click Display
Click on Document Tab
Select Windows System colors
Click OK

Then, change the colors using the Windows Control Panel:
On the Windows NT/95 Taskbar
Choose Start/Settings/Control Panel
Double-click the Display Icon
Select the Appearance TAB at the top of the dialog box
From the Item drop-down list, select Windows to change the editing screen background. Select the color you want from the Color pop-down palette.

Change the color of any other areas by selecting the Item from the
drop-down list (or by clicking it in the preview area in the top half of the dialog box) and then selecting the desired color.

To change the font color
Select the Color pop-down palette to the right of the Font drop-down list. When you've finished, choose OK
Choose FILE/Close to exit Control Panel.

I suspect the "use windows colors" is the issue, but it may also defeat the purpose of the high contrast. Knowing the exact version of WordPerfect used would also help narrow down the search.

You might also try changing the Advanced color and appearance
