Easy Transfer Error Message

Hello -

I hope someone can help me. I recently installed Win 7, and I used easy transfer to move from 32 Bit Vista Home Premium to Win 7 64 Bit Home Premium. I did a custom install, but I did not format the partition. Everything worked great - iTunes, Outlook, and all of my pictures and movies came over.

I repeated this same process with the same transfer files on an identical machine and I am getting the following error:

'Windows Easy Transfer couldn't open the file' I'd believe this except that the same file worked 2 hours ago.

Has anyone seen this error? Anyone have any ideas to get all of my files out of this archive?

Thanks again for your support.

Corrupt WET File

I reviewed the links that were sent along, and unfortunately they did address a similar problem, but not not the one that I was having.

I reviewed the WET Debug file and it was pretty clear that my issue was a corrupt file (it said so in the file), for it was also stored on an older USB drive and it has been acting up lately.

Luckily, I use Mozy the online backup service, and I am now in the process of downloading 180g worth of my life and putting it on the new machine. Most likely, I will hold on to the WET archive files just in case that MS comes out with a archive extractor in the near future. With more folks moving to Win7, I expect we will see more of these types of problems.

Thanks again for your help!

I agree... just run migwiz on the new win7 PC and copy those settings over to the next machine!
