The touchscreen controller (chip inside the touchscreen) tells the OS that it is a HID mouse device rather than a HID touch device, which is a relatively new HID device category. If the Elo-specific driver (XP/Vista/7) is installed, the OS USB-HID driver will give it control of the touchscreen and it does not support gestures or multi-touch. Otherwise, the generic USB-HID driver will treat the touchscreen as a mouse, which also doesn't support these features. I once wrote an Elo-specific driver for the Tablet PC OS where the driver tricked the OS into treating it as a touch device (Tablet PC was the first OS with native support for touch) but I don't know whether W7 would allow this. In, any case, it would be available only through Elo.

Thanks for the reply, it sounds like I need to some how trick windows into thinking the screen is a new HID device, is this possible?
I know I cannot multi touch on this monitor but it should be able to handle the single finger gestures- witch is what I'm after.
I have made a jukebox in the coffee table and use Media Center on it, bye the way.
Thanks Tom.

I think you should just download from elotouch.com their latest XP/Vista/W7 driver package. Once this is installed, the native USB-HID driver should defer to the Elo-specific driver, which, along with Elo support programs, will give you the best traditional touch facilities.

I have the latest drivers installed and the screen is working perfectly, thanks.
Does this mean I can't get the jestures to work?

We recently moved to Win 7 in our new systems which use an ELO touch screen.

We were using the 4.8.7b driver but after rebooting about 12 times on average, the touch screen doesn't respond. A click on the ELO icon in the system tray (it sometimes doesn't show) will bring it to life.

When it doesn't respond, looking at Devices and Printers does show the ELO 2210 installed and it says it is working normally.

I attempted the link in the previous post but the screen doesn't respond on boot up until I click the ELO icon. Once working it does look more like Win 7 (expanding cursors and such).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
