emachines laptop, unknown problem

okay guys i know this is the 7 forum but i didnt want to open an account on the vista one to ask one question.

i gave my little brothers a laptop that id had lying around for a while, its an emachines E627 (E627201G16MI)

basically i just wiped it and set it up with antivirus and connected to the web for them however its rediculously slow, it takes around 35 seconds just to open IE and then alot longer to load a webpage, they just cant use it, iv got windows 95 PC that is faster!

its basically a paper weight At the minute.

iv checked that everything is upto date.

not sure what else i could do as iv allready wiped it.

any suggestions?

my bros are only 10 and 11 so i dont want to spend any money as its just not going to be worth it. they just want to play games lol.

First try running the registry cleanup utility in ccleaner. CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

Then run sfc/ scannow. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html I think it works the same in Vista as Seven, so the tutorial ought to work.

thanks il try that out, i have cleaned the registry but i havent done the second one so il give it ago. thanks
