eMail Account got Hacked. Question about how to remove the trojan(s).

Hello All,

I made the mistake of changing my email password back to what it was when our email account got hacked and the spamming program managed to send out a bunch of un wanted to emails to friends and family. I did change the password and the spam stopped but I want to know if there are any good programs for finding these trojan-type programs? Changing my password stops the emails but the program remains.

I am running Windows 7, 64 bit and I am using McAfee Firewall\Virus\Seccutity suite. My email program is Outloook 2003.

You can scan with a some ondemand scanner like MBAM or Hitman pro.

Windows 7 but why are you using Outlook Express and not Windows Live Mail? How is that possible?
You may also do a virus scan with the OS in safe mode (press F8 repeatedly while the computer is starting up, then select "Safe mode"). With Malwarebytes' Antimalware and Microsoft Security Essentials this causes no problems. I don't know about the other AV programs when they are run in safe mode. Check it with Google.

I would also advise to have a look at www.H-online.com then click on "Security"
(by Heise Security).
There is a section on emails on the right hand side under "Toolkits" when you scroll down; about changing the settings of email programs and for sending yourself test emails with harmless viruses in email attachments to find out whether or not your security is working properly. Doing a test is always useful and gives a certain peace of mind. The site is secure.
