Email desktop client

Hi everyone....

I currently have Windows XP home and have been using Outlook Express.
I will be buying a new system with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office.

I understand that Win 7 does not have Outlook Express. Which desktop email client that is similar to Outlook Express would you suggest to use?

Also, how would I transfer my existing email messages. folders, and address book from Outlook Expresss to the new desktop email client?

Thunderbird can be configured to closely resemble Outlook Express.

Transferring mail and addresses to a new email program is a bit frustrating. The various export/import functions don't work particularly well.

I'd advise you to transfer as few folders as possible and to transfer as little stuff as possible generally.

One way or another, make a text file containing your current email addresses because when the smoke clears you may have to re-enter all of them by hand in the new program anyway.

You could download the trial version of Microsoft Office Outlook (Microsoft Office 2010 Trial) and see if you can import your contacts, mail, etc. into it, and then either buy it or reinstall it, as I believe you can get you trial again for another 60 days. But then you'd have to re-import everything every 2 months. Also there's always the student edition if you are one. Even adults at university are entitled, I believe.

I use Windows Live Mail and you can import your mail from Outlook Express. Has lots of good features and I like it better then Thunderbird.
