This is really beginning to 'get up my nose' !!!

At the moment, I am having a 50% success/failure rate when I try to reach my email. Talktalk is my ISP.
I use Thunderbird as my client (also have outlook 2007 as an option)

1 - I receive repeated requests for password confirmation

2 - I get notices to say that logon has failed

3 - I get notices to the effect that the username was not accepted.
Be mindful that no changes have been made to the account details.

I might try to get mail at say 12 midday - and get one of the above, HOWEVER, try say 10 seconds later and all zooms through with no problem. ( OR vice versa) - It is erratic throughout the day and through the night, so I do not think it is traffic related.

This problem is being experienced on three PC's that I use. Two are on Win 7, and the other on Win XP.

I am mindful of past TT email disasters, when the whole system has been down for days. Are we about to experience this all over again?

Are other TT users having the same problems, OR am I looking at a Thunderbird issue. I would mention that My internet connection seems to be rock solid.

Any help suggestions welcomed.

regards

Sounds to me like it's an issue with your ISP's mail server. Not much you can do about it personally. However, I'd call them and let them know what you're experiencing. If they don't know there's an issue (or a potential issue), they can fix it.

These were my thoughts exactly.
Up to comparatively recently, the TT users forum was a good source of action and information, and posts of this nature did obtain some serious action.
HOWEVER, the present forum setup is a disaster - and any approach is not guaranteed to get to the attention of those who can really help.
With the helpline (help ??) you have to deal with a scripted person from faraway places who does not really have a full awareness of the matter under discussion!

Looks like I will have to depend once again on 'good ole gmail' until the current problems (not admitted to by TT yet) are solved.

It would seem that the problems previously mentioned, were in fact down to talktalk (again!!!!) They really do get themselves all crossed up with their email servers etc quite regularly, but stubbornly refuse to admit fully to the problem being of their making.
There was 'some sort' of admission yesterday on the TT forum. I am pleased to report that today all seems well.

I'm glad it got sorted.

Question, is there any particular reason you're relying on them for your email? If service is as bad as you indicate, perhaps it's time to move on from them?

My overall package has been good and financially acceptable (the only problems I have had in 7/8 years have been email related)
I suppose it is the known familiarity of our email address(s) that keeps me as a customer.

I do have a gmail account - this is always reliable to fall back on. Lets hope for a further run of trouble-free email useage.
