I keep getting this popup and it says 'The email server is currently unavailable!'. It happens regularly but not all the time and sometimes all at once. You know like buses! Thanks for your help in advance!

P.S It seems as though it's nothing to do with the email client.

That usually means that the service that provides the email is having problems. Go to their website see if any mention is made of a problem.

No... it means that your mail provider ( Gmail, etc. etc.) is having problems... wait for a bit and try again..

Do you mean it's office 2007 outlook?

No, who supplies your email. Is is your ISP? Outlook, just uses your email service. If you do not know who it is, it is probably your ISP? What is the name of your ISP, who gives you the intenet service? It is the company that you pay every month.

I do not use ISP server mail system but, I am getting intermittent supply from the ISP. Is that causing the problem?

Did the e-mail ever work, or did this just start happening out of the blue?

If it never worked in the first place, make sure all your settings are correct. It's possible your e-mail provider uses a non-standard port or requires a secure connection.

If it worked before and now has stopped working, then it could either be a local problem or a remote problem. It could be that your firewall has decided to change some connection rules. Try temporarily disabling your firewall and see what happens.
Other than that, it's probably what other posters said; an issue at your ISP/e-mail provider's end.
