Solved Embedded Lockdown Manager - how to remove it from W7?

Just discovered this gratuitous mechanism while I was tidying my W7 Ultimate 64bit PC.

From what I've read it should only be attached to W8 or W8.1.

So it would seem to be superfluous in my computer.

However, the uninstall method says to remove it from 'Windows Features' but it's not listed there.

It doesn't appear in the 'Programs and Features' list either.

It's probably not doing much harm where it is, but if it's not meant to be there, I'd rather dump it.

These MS websites might help you. You can disable it, so read through the info & it explains it for you. The first one explains what is installed etc. & the second about how to disable it.

Uh, thanks...but if you'd read my question again you'll see that I've already tried Microsoft's method.

Believe me; Ranger4 has read your post as I have.
I see nothing in your post #1 that states anything from Microsoft was done or researched.

Lets start with something basic that might reveal a problem. You do have a strange problem.
Complete this tutorial by Brink and post the log here.

Jack: Not sure where you're coming from. Below is a grab from the linked Microsoft page and the instructions are those that I followed. As I said in #1.
I didn't bother with the DISM action because ELM isn't listed in Windows Features, so there's no point activating it.

Ranger: The relevant files are listed in several places. See the second pic.

But the existence of these files isn't bothering me enough to waste more time analyzing how they got there. I'll be reinstalling W7 shortly and that'll take care of the problem.

I was just curious, really. The files are genuine MS, and are definitely not malicious, but I can't see how a Windows 8 process ended up in my W7 machine.
