empty pst file

hello I have microsoft office outlook 2003 and one fine day a virus occured in my pc. I must reinstall xp but before I copy my pst files on usb drive. after reinstalling xp I paste it in the destination folder but occured that the pst file is empty
can the virus empyed this pst file?????? what can i do????

have you tick show hidden files and tick show system files? some virus will hide the real file
