Encryption on prior PC Drive Partitions

Hi, my old pc crashed (likely MB or CPU) so picked up a new one and put old drive as slave so now I have access to the partitions with my old folders and files. Issue is they were encrypted on my prior pc and even though on my current PC I am admin and took ownership of those drives/partitions, it STILL do not have privileges to un-encrypt those files. I can un-encrypt the root but the sub folders do not get un-encrypted and also when I attempt to un-encrypt at the file level I get error that my privileges are not sufficient. This is even in Built-in admin level.

How can I un-encrypt all my folders/files in my slaved HD? Thx!

Unfortunately that is the downside of encrypting.

Essentially you have to have the same GUID (and have the password) as you did before. I am not sure if it can be done. try googling decrypting old HD

Yah it's not looking good. Hey I was thinking to boot up from the slave which has XP on it on C: partition but not sure it will work. Am thinking to disconnect my new drive and make the old primary for boot up and use safe mode. My slave is SATA and current setup is SATA3. What would prevent me from booting up on my slave into XP and decrypting. What compatibility issues may I experience and is there any issues I should be aware of?
