I installed a program which I thought would restore music from my iPod. Anyway it didn't work as advertised (at least for me) and now I want to ensure EVERY trace of it is removed from my computer.

I obviously uninstalled it, but from experience I know that various files linger in the temp directory and perhaps the AppData directory.

Is there anywhere I can get a definitive list of all the places files place configuration files or the like? Basically, I want to delete EVERYTHING (registry entries and configuration entries) for this file.

Thanks!

Welcome!

You will need an uninstaller. I use and recommend Revo Uninstaller. Re-install the program you want to remove, then use Revo to uninstall it.

Thanks for the greetings!

I use CCleaner to uninstall, but how will uninstalling remove files in the AppData directory or other config files and registry entries?

Don't use CCleaner to uninstall, use Revo.

After you uninstall with Revo, it scans for leftover files and registry entries. CCleaner will not do that.

Ah ok, I was not aware Revo had this functionality. I will give it a try today!

Be sure to do an Advanced scan.

Also be sure to backup your registry first. Start>Regedit>file>export.

The program says it searches for leftovers from old uninstalls. Does this mean I don’t need to actually re-install and uninstall? I guess it would be “cleaner” to completely re-install and uninstall.

Re-install then un-install using Revo then run ccleaner registry cleaner to make sure it is all gone that's what I do.

Welcome!

Re-install the program you want to remove, then use Revo to uninstall it.
JK above has given the best advice. An alternate to that would be after you have un-installed and if it's not too far back in time before the install, run system restore, restoring to the time prior to the crap installation.

In order for Revo to see the installation, you need to first reinstall the program you want to get rid of.
