Solved Erratic sharing W7 machines

Got a laptop (WLAN) and PC (LAN).
Shared all drives etc. on both machines: aim is sharing EVERYTHING on both computers.
Still, subdirectories are shown as NOT SHARED...
Same HOMEGROUP, same startup password.
Also using correct advanced settings.
It used to work OK, but somehow it reverted to sharing pictures, documents, music and videos.
Sometimes I can transfer files, sometimes PC>Laptop, sometimes Laptop>pc only.
Anyone?

If you really need to share the actual drives of each system, you can only get so far using the Share permissions tab.

If you need more leverage over the actual drive you need to go into the "Security" tab and allow sharing there as well by adding "Everyone" to the list then put the check marks for full access.

Thanks, this worked, although some folders (Windows, Program Files) still cannot be freed for Windows' clasp...

You should have full access to every file on the drive provided that you allowed access to "Everyone" on both the share permissions tab and also the Security tab. Although this is not a very secure way to share folders. It would be better from a security standpoint to share the entire "User" folder instead.
