hi.
i get this error when i try to install w7.
i read on your forum what to make , but nothing seems to work.
i try to install it from a memory stick.
amd dual core 4600+
video card : nvidia 9600 gso
4 GB RAM
hdd: WD Caviar Blue Hard ( WD5000AAKS ) 500gb
any help?

I believe the error you are seeing matches this error from the ntdddisk header file:

  SMART_IDE_ERROR                                               ntdddisk.h
# Error from IDE controller

So, given that, either the disk you're installing to is bad or unrecognized, or the USB key is having issues running the setup properly. Have you tried installing to this machine from a DVD, or a different USB key? Also, how was the installation on this USB key created?

i tried with differit usb key, no result. with a dvd i didn' tried yet.

the instalation on the stick was created with a program called WinToFlash.
