Hey guys, I have a problem. I keep getting error 1320 whenever I try to install the Red Giant Effects Suite trial. Half way through the installation process, I get error 1320 which basically tells me that the folder name exceeds 260 characters (or something like that). Anyways, I would try to rename the folder except its located in ProgramData\Documents and I keep getting access denied, so no way to access the Red Giant folder. Also, during the installation setup, I figured that maybe I could try to change the location but it doesn't give me that choice so I'm stuck. Is there anyway to remove the 260 character limit? I heard its possible, but I'm not sure how to do it. I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Thanks.

Hi jumanji,

Yes I have heard of that program and I did try to use it except the trial doesn't let you do much. There's actually no point. I also don't have money to buy the product so there goes that.

Welcome to Seven Forums Calpis. You might try changing the name of the Application Data folder, install the trial, then rename the Application Data folder back after.

Navigate to C:\ProgramData> Click on Organize in upper left menu> Folder and search options> View tab> Click on Show hidden files, folders and drives> Untick Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)> Click Yes on the warning> Click Apply> Click OK

Now the Application Data folder will be visible> Rename the folder to anything else

See if the trial will install normally, regardless, after reverse the steps and rename the Application Data folder, recheck the Hide protected operating system files, uncheck show hidden files if so desired.

Let us know if it didn't work. A Guy

Hey Guy,

Yeah I have tried that but it doesn't do anything. I did email support though and they asked what my account name was, so I'm assuming they'll want me to change it to something short, like 'A', and hope for the best. Other than that, I'm all out of ideas.

That was a well known spam program (they hit here about 20 times a week)

Link removed.

There are programs I see for finding, and renaming long names, but I can't see where they will help during installation. Let us know what support suggests. We'd be happy to see if we can find something else if they are no help. A Guy
