Installed Office 2007 on a new drive running Windows 7...everything was fine for about a week. Now, nothing will open...says the apps "...have not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application." I know that it is a permission related issue--as all of the components run fine if you right click, "Run as Administrator". I have tried everything that I know how to do to restore the permissions, and/or fix the reg keys...but nothing works.

I have downloaded and installed Microsoft Fix It, I have performed a Clean Boot and tried to repair from the DVD (as Admisistrator), and I have messed with granting Admin rights every way that I can think of--but the end result is that nothing works. Microsoft has finally added so much protection to their applications that even legitimate users can't install and use their software!

When I try to repair from my DVD, it tells me "Setup cannot open the registry key UNKNOWN\Components\1FA18F797...Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry..." That ref. folder above does not appear to exist on my boot drive(?).

Thanks for the reply.
1) No "normal" free phone support (cost $49), since I purchased my copy from a university. They consider it to be a volume licensing version and will not help. I have a number to call today to see if a different department will be able to help (but they are not open when I am at home with the computer).
2) I've spent well over 10 hours researching this issue and nearly all posts end with frustration. Some older post had success with resetting all permissions with "Mr. Fix It", but I read that this app doesn't work with 64-bit systems (+ it was written 7 years ago, so I was reluctant).
3) I have read just a single post (prior to yours) stating that the mso.dll was the issue. However, being a newbie to W7, I can only find one file on my system. There is nothing to replace the corrupt file with? Guess I could install another copy on a different computer and then delete after swiping the mso.dll file? If it works, I'll willing to try anything at this point. I've read that re-installing Office usually doesn't work either.
(And I wonder why my local Apple store is ALWAYS packed!! ;-)
