Hello mates!

i've a really serious problem and iam clueless as to the problem

i bought new parts(06/17/12) and build a new pc and i recycled some parts from the old pc

as i wrote in my specs
1.new asus mobo
2.new intel cpu 3570k
3.new psu corsair 750tx
4.new chassis lancooler pc-k63
5.16GB RAM g.skill

i used from my old pc
1.my gpu ati 4770 hd
2.2 hard drives [1.ssd 60gb 2.2TB WD caviar green]
the WD HD went to hell because of bad sectors(1444 to be exact)
but iam getting ahead of myself

here is the problem
about 2 weeks ago the pc started to suddenly restart
it happened without a warning while the pc was in idle mode
it just went POOF and started to restart himself several times but after 2 seconds restarted again and again and again in a non-stopping cycle

i shut down the pc waited a few minutes and plugged the psu cable again
this time the pc started loading fine but at the BIOS menu an alert showed saying
asus anti-surge was triggered.. i thought that maybe the cpu had over-heated or something of the sort
so i entered BIOS mode but saw that the temp were low
27C and the mobo was on energy saver mode
before i could do anything else the pc crashed again and started the endless restart cycle
after re-shutting it and pulling the cable out i tried to disconnect everything
i removed the WD HD, the gpu, the RAM, and re-plugged them all one by one
first the ram then the gpu
then i started the pc and everything worked out perfectly
i then re-connected the HD and saw on hd sentinal pro 1444 bad sectors

i then ran prime95 for several hours just to make sure that everything's ok

so i thought to myself that that's the reason for all this head-ache
so now iam using the 60GB sd and an external HD by samsung of 1TB

only that again iam having the RESTART CYCLE issue
and i have no idea what to do!!!!
plus the external usb samsung drive is not working all that well... after a while it starts to beep and the icon [G:\] disappear
i re-installed the whole drivers using the asus cd

iam pretty sure that its the psu but i have no way of testing it...not that i know of anyways

please help me...iam clueless here...!

I see you have an SSD installed. SSD drivers are a common cause of crashes, in particular Crucial M4's (such as yours) with outdated firmware. Make sure that the following is up to date:

  • SSD Firmware
  • BIOS Version
  • Chipset Drivers
  • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
  • Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers (older drivers for these are especially problematic)

that was weird...
i looked up before at the bios and it was version 0210 updated to 03/12/12
so i thought to myself that thats pretty new

but then i checked asus's website and it turns out that they had 3 new bios updates since specificly stating that these updates contain stabler bios

also did the firmware update

i hope that now it wont crash!
thanks JaidynM!

if it does to crash again because of god knows what i'll post it here(hopefully it wont :) )

it crashed again :(

this time i checked the event viewer and saw about 100(not kidding here) errors 51
i forgot to mention that beside the SDD and the WD HD that went to hell i plugged a usb external HD "samsung s2" of 1 TB

anyways i used this usb HD as a back up HD and i've backed up all the important stuff from the dying WD HD
anyways this is the error i got

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\DR2 during a paging operation.

after a 100 times of this error the system crashed

The previous system shutdown at 3:48:06 AM on ‎7/‎9/‎2012 was unexpected.
and
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Can you please post the event viewer log?

In the meantime, run the following scans and stress tests.

Run an sfc/scannow command in an elevated command prompt. If errors are found, run it twice more with each scan followed by a reboot.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Test your RAM using Memtest86+. Let it run until 6-8 passes have completed or errors have been found.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

Test your video card using Furmark. Watch your machine's temps and stop the test if it starts to overheat or artifacts appear on the screen.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html

Test your hardware using Prime95. Watch your machine's temps and stop the test if it starts to overheat. Let it run for up to 2 hours or until errors have been found.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-hardware-stress-test-prime95.html

Stress test your CPU using Intel Burn Test.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/220743-cpu-stress-test-using-intelburntest.html

Run a chkdsk on the system partition to check for bad sectors or system errors.

ok.. will do the tests
for now here's the event log

UPDATE:
just went to the bios and saw under the PSU that the 5V value is 4.400 and its marked in RED!

does this means that the psu is faking it and thats it useless??

UPDATE 2:
after a while tried to plug the usb external HD of samsung and the pc crashed immediately

If you are overclocking any hardware, STOP. Reset any changed values back to default.

It may be the PSU, do you have a PSU with higher wattage? Enter your hardware and other required information into here so we can see if you need any extra wattage.

If you restart without the external HD does the computer still crash?

not only was i not OC the mobo settings was on "energy saver"

Minimum PSU Wattage: 310 W
Recommended
PSU Wattage: 360

i have Corsair Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 with 750 w..!
this shouldnt even tickle my psu...

Hmmm, your PSU definitely looks sufficient.

Restart the computer without the external HD and see if it crashes.

Complete the scans and stress tests I posted here giving priority to the sfc/scannow, Memtes86+ and chkdsk.

ok i took the psu to the lab and they said that its fine

i re-plugged it to the MOBO and now it works fine
plus the bios shows under 5V : 5V and sometimes 5.4V

ahhh about the test
did the GPU test.. it reached 62C and didnt cause any error or stuff...
the prime 95 ran for 2 hours straight and the CPU reached 100% but no error and all tests passed
couldnt do the memory scan though since my pc is connected to my TV and i cant watch VGA or whatever

i have hd sentinal pro and it said that my cruiser ssd 60GB has 100% health and that my WD had 9%
plus the samsung has 100% too...

after all that i conclude that maybe i didnt plug the PSU strong enough

It could be. After plugging all of your PSU cables in properly does your computer still crash?

god damn it its faking again
the pc crashed again

and now the bios shows that the 5v is 4.560v

but if the guys from the lab said that the psu is fine could this be a mobo problem?

UPDATE:
after shutting down the pc and unplugging the AC cable and letting the pc "rest" for 40 min or so
i plugged everything back and the bios showed 4.800v

something is definitely messed up here....
i just dont know if its the PSU or the MOBO and i dont have anyway to check it...
not that i know of anyway...

Do you have a spare PSU or one in another computer that is 750w+? Even if a friend is willing to lend you one you could use if for an hour or so and see how it goes. If it still crashes then it's most likely to be the mobo.

iam pretty sure its the PSU

i've check it like so

unplugged any usb device i had and ran prime 95 for 3 hours
then restarted the pc and went straight to the bios
the 5v was normal

then plugged any usb device i had EXCEPT for the samsung(thinking that maybe it caused all this mess)
and ran prime 95 for 30 min
then went to the bios and saw the 5v showing 4.600V

so thats that..
it has problem whenever i plug a usb
about a secondery PSU...thats tricky... but i might take my little brother one and do the check..
thats a great idea!
