Error Code 1603

I have been trying to download two applications (Java 8 v25, and Garmin Express) and every time I try I get an error code 1603.

I think this has something to do with my Windows 7 system, and I have tried several things to correct this problem but noting has worked.

1. I tried a system restore and that didn't help
2. I tried downloading in Safe Mode same result
3. I ran my Window 7 CD in repair mode and that did solve the problem either
4. I ran a Microsoft.NET repair and still receive the same error code 1603
5. I turned off my antivirus protection, ran Malwarebytes and CCleaner and still have not been able to rid the error code 1603

So I decided to run sfc /scannow , which I have attached for review

I am running Windows 7, and I am current with all Window updates. I have a Dell computer with a AMD Phenom 9650 Quad-Core Processor 2.30 GHz, Installed Memory 4.00 GB, and a 64-bit operating system.
Do you have any ideas that I can try.

Hiyya Lobo mate I have no idea what those reams of script mean but did find this if it is of any help https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/834484 it is showing an XP set up but I suspect the principle is the same.

There is this too and it looks like something is going awry when (as you are trying) to download a program of some sort http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/325465-installer-error-2203-error-1603-a.html

Error Code 1605

Thanks for the tip, I tried the last link and followed the instructions and that method did not solve my problem. I still cannot download Java or Garmin Express.

... so your COmmand processor is potentially hosed!

I've uploaded a file - lb3aa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type
DIR C:\lb3aa
hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try
DIR D:\lb3aa
or
DIR E:\lb3aa



The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...



XCOPY <drive>:\lb3aa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h



(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )



run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type
EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply

I am glad you saw this Noel as I was about to suggest a chkdks /f /r but hopefully it's under control.
