Error code 28 on Ethernet controller (Missing Drivers)

I have just installed Windows 7 Pro on my desktop. I am connecting the Ethernet cable directly from the router to the computer and it says that the drivers are missing.
I have a linksys cisco model number wrt400n and a Scientific Atlanta modem.
I cannot seem to find the drivers needed.

It is likely that the drivers for the 'Ethernet Card' installed in the computer are not installed. Please Check its status in 'Device Manager': Click 'Start' > Type 'devmgmt.msc' (without quotations) in the 'Search Box' > Tap 'Enter' (Device Manager appears) > Locate and Expand 'Network Adapters' > Check if a 'question mark/exclamation mark' is observed besides any 'network device' (You may also look through the whole list to see if any other device is listed with such a mark, under 'Other Devices')

If yes, right click the 'Device' > Click 'Properties' > Click 'Details' tab > Select 'Hardware ID' from the 'Property Drop Down' > Capture and share 'Hardware ID details'.

Do reply with the findings; would be glad to assist.

Please try installing the 'Ethernet Drivers' for the ' ULi PCI M526X Ethernet Controller' using this link: Microsoft Update Catalog

I have the exact same problem, and can't seem to find the drivers for the ethernet controller.. I've been looking for ages. First I tried downloading drivers from acer.com and tried to install it but nothing happened.. I have an Acer Aspire One Happy by the way, and it used to have Windows 7 starters edition but I recently replaced it with Windows 7 home premium, now it's all messed up.. where can I find the drivers for the network, ethernet, video controller... help please.. thanks in advance..

The disc should have a folder inside called Drivers . The recovery discs will bring you to the day you bought the laptop

i can't install anything, every time I try, a drive window will open that says program is too big to install or something, I don't know what to do...

Put the download file from the USB flash drive to your desktop then try to install the driver.

everything seems to be working now, I've downloaded the drivers from acer and it worked.. maybe I got the ones that are not compatible with the windows the first time.. thanks ^_^

You should disable Ethernet Controller from Device Manager and then scan for hardware changes. Also try to download and install updated drivers.
