error code 33 sidebyside??

I just got this thing set up the day before Christmas and already I got problems. It's a new hard drive with a clean install of Windows 7. My event logs is full of this error relating to the external hard drive where I want to store my backup images. Still checking into the other errors. The warning is something to do with my ISP timing out.
Should I uninstall the external hard drive and see if I can install it without the "smartware"??

Event ID 33 is a version conflict. Basically windows thinks you should have one version of the named file in the snip, but you have another.

You can search for and find all the version and eliminate them the re-boot and let windows find the correct version

Why would Windows think there was another version, it's a new hard drive?? I checked and the My Book Essentials ver 2.0 is compatible with Windows 7.

How do I search for previous versions?

I uninstalled the external HD and reinstalled it, that seemed to take care of the issue. I did not install the "smartware" this time.

It is looking for the vc80.mfcloc file which is part of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package.
