error code on upgrade install

I just got Win 7 Pro Upgrade. My current OS is XP Home SP3. During my install I get either of these error codes: 0xC0000005 and 0x80070570. I have retired 4 times and got either code each time. Upgrade Advisor said I would be fine. Any Idea?

Have you checked the upgrade path to make sure you can upgrade from Home to Pro?

You are booting from DVD, right?

Check your BIOS to see if you have latest version update.

Reset BIOS CMOS: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/clearcmos.htm

Check also in BIOS for SATA controller setting. Try ACHI first, then IDE if necc.

Remove all but 2 gb of RAM.

Remove all USB connections.

I have the latest update for bios. My mouse and keyboard are both USB. And are all of the BIOS steps really necessary. I dont see why this is so complicated. Is there any way to do a clean install with my disk?

You can only do a clean install if you have XP.

I asked if you are booting the DVD. Try that and try running from XP.

I gave you the fixes for the errors you are receiving.

all is well. I removed 2 sticks of ram and all unnecessary USB and it worked fine. It never gave me an option to do 64-bit tho. Whats the difference between 64 and 32

64 bit needs a 64 bit processor and 4+ gb of RAM. You also need the 64 bit installation media to install it. Each Win7 license allows the use of either 32 bit or 64 bit.

If you have more than 4gb of RAM, then the only way it will all be used is with 64 bit OS. There are more problems with drivers and some programs (not all run in 64 bit, but will default to 32 bit if not) but you can always try it and switch back to 32 bit if you don't like it.

The advantage is it will be able to use more ram. I have 8gigs in 1 of my systems, never uses all of it but......and the cpu will be utitlized better if you are using a lot of apps at once, even better so if you are a gamer.
