Hi there,
I had been trying since the past 2 days to install windows XP professional 64 bit in my sony vaio (vpceb3gfg) running windows 8 release preview. I downloaded the windows XP pro x64 and slipstreamed it using nLite to integrate the iaStor.sys controller driver to include support for SATA controller which by default is not present in windows XP driver list and thus to detect my hard disk drive

I downloaded the downgrade to XP sata driver from Support for VPCEB36FG : E Series (VPCE) : VAIO™ Laptop & Computer : Sony India and extracted it then added it to nLite using 'insert single driver' .. all went well so far. but when i go for the installation of windows XP it says error in iastor.sys, and that it is not compatible with x64 version of this windows, try contacting manufacturer for help and support... blah blah blah..

now the thing is my BIOS settings do not allow me to change the SATA to ACHI or whatever the other phoenix BIOS supports for windows XP to automatically detect the hard disk controller drivers and eventually detect the hard disk! So I am left with the only option of slipstreaming the SATA iaStor.sys file into the windows XP installation but this is going in vain as said before... anyone there to help me out or help me notify where on earth am i doing wrong???

PS: Chipset Intel Havendale/Clarkdale Host Bridge Southbridge Intel HM55
IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers driver : Intel(R) 5 series 4 port SATA AHCI Controller (iaahci.sys and iastor.sys)

I wouldn't bother trying, to be honest. Windows XP x64 was a proof of concept release, and never really was meant for the masses. Driver support and issues are one of the biggest reasons it never took off.
